จากกรณีที่โลกออนไลน์มีการแชร์คลิปวีดีโอ ซึ่งเป็นภาพจากกล้องวงจรปิด เหตุการณ์ขณะนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติ เดินคุยโทรศัพท์มือถือมาตามริมถนน ก่อนจะเดินหลบน้ำขัง ก่อนจะมีรถกระบะขับมาชนหลังอย่างจัง จนชายคนดังกล่าวล้มฟุบ ซ้ำยังถูกรถทับอีกครั้งจนนอนแน่นิ่งล่าสุด ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า (15 พ.ย.) เมื่อเวลา 09.00 น. สภ.บ่อพุด อ.เกาะสมุย จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี เปิดเผยว่า เหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวเกิดขึ้นบนถนนสายทวีราษฎรภักดี (สายรอบเกาะ) หน้าโรงแรมบันดารา ม.1 ต.บ่อพุด เวลา 21.05 น. วันที่ 14 พ.ย.ที่ผ่านมาหลังจากได้รับแจ้ง เจ้าหน้าที่จึงไปตรวจสอบที่เกิดเหตุ ทราบชื่อผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บ คือ นายอามี่ โคเฮน อายุ 43 ปี สัญชาติอิสราเอล ได้รับบาดเจ็บสาหัส เจ้าหน้าที่กู้ภัยนำส่ง รพ.บ้านดอนอินเตอร์สมุยจากการตรวจสอบกล้องวงจรปิด พบว่ารถกระบะคันก่อเหตุ สีบรอนซ์ บม-7392 พัทลุง มีผู้ชายเป็นผู้ขับขี่ โดยขับมาจาก ต.บ่อพุด มุ่งหน้าไปทาง ต.แม่น้ำ เมื่อผ่านหน้าโรงแรมบันดารา เป็นจังหวะที่นักท่องเที่ยวเดินเบี่ยงน้ำเจิงนองริมถนน รถกระบะคันดังกล่าวได้ขับมาด้วยความเร็วพุ่งชนอย่างแรง จนร่างกระเด็นไปนอนคว่ำหน้ากับพื้น ก่อนที่ล้อซ้ายและหลังซ้ายทับซ้ำไปที่บริเวณลำคอกับหัวไหล และขับหลบหนีไปทางอย่างรวดเร็วล่าสุด จากการตรวจสอบของเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจ ทราบว่ารู้ตัวเจ้าของรถยนต์แล้ว และอยู่ระหว่างติดตามตัวมาสอบปากคำว่าใครเป็นคนขับรถ พร้อมเตรียมแจ้งข้อกล่าวหา ขับรถโดยประมาทเป็นเหตุให้ผู้อื่นได้รับบาดเจ็บส่วนอาการบาดเจ็บของนายอามี่ ได้ตรวจสอบไปทาง รพ.บ้านดอนอินเตอร์สมุย ทราบว่าอาการพ้นขีดอันตรายแล้ว แต่ไม่สามารถเปิดเผยข้อมูลของผู้ป่วยได้
